Male arrested after Sutton crime spree

A man arrested by officers in Sutton-in-Ashfield on Saturday (28 December 2019) is due to appear in court next month charged with multiple offences.

Alex Swain, 20, of no fixed address, is charged with two counts of theft of a motor vehicle and further counts of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and making off without making a payment.

Swain was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 20 January 2020.

In a Facebook post, a spokesman for Nottingham Police said: “We will not tolerate behaviour like this in our local town and will continue to work together to stop incidents like this occurring in Ashfield and make the area a safer place for the community.”
