A driver had a lucky escape when teenagers threw stones from a bridge on to passing cars travelling along a road in Teversal.
The woman, who does not wish to be named for fear of reprisals, had to pull up sharply on Pleaaley Road when one of the stones struck the bonnet of her car.
“If it had hit my windscreen, there could have been a nasty accident, especially as it’s quite a narrow road there,” she said. “A stone also hit the car in front of me, and the youngsters were chased off by a man, who was very angry.”
The stone-throwing happened at about 7.50 in the evening on Thursday last week at a bridge that is part of the Teversal Trails.
“There were three or four youngsters, and I’d say they were in their early teens,” said the woman. “I immediately phoned the police but, unfortunately, they couldn’t find them.
“Because of the noise they were making, I was aware they were walking towards the Teversal Trails Visitors’ Centre.
“I think we should let the villagers know about this, so they can keep a lookout and avoid a nasty incident.”
Police confirmed they are investigating.
