Long Eaton man charged with stealing an ice cream van

A Long Eaton man has been charged after an ice cream van was stolen.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police were called just after 1am yesterday, Thursday, September 3, to a report that a van had been taken on Bobbers Mill Road, Bobbers Mill.

Gavin Fouracres, 22, of Briar Gate in Long Eaton, has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, driving without due care and attention, driving without insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and failing to stop for police.

Inspector Mark Stanley said: “Clearly this was an unusual getaway vehicle and it wasn’t too difficult for officers to spot a pink ice cream van being driven in the middle of the night. The theft of commercial vehicles can have a really big impact on small business owners who often rely on them to make a living."

Fouracres has been remanded in custody and will appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today, Friday, September 4.
