Detectives are investigating after a man was injured following reports of a street fight in Newlands Road yesterday (Wednesday 3 June).

A man had suffered cuts and bruises but there was no sign of disorder when officers arrived at the scene after receiving the call at around 7.30pm.

Detective Sergeant Dave Prest said: “Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone with any information that could help to contact us on 101 quoting incident 680 of 3 June.

He added: "The injured man has been treated in hospital and luckily he has not been seriously injured but we are keen to piece together what had happened during the incident."
