Large amount of drugs recovered in Sutton in Ashfield police patrol

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police spotted a car they thought was acting suspiciously in Brand Lane, at around midday on Friday, September 18.

Police followed the car and stopped it in Carsic Lane. After a search, large quantities of class A drugs including what is believed to be cocaine and heroin were recovered.

Mohammed Mansaray, 22 of Walworth Place, Southwark, London and Simeon Koroma, 22, of Harlaxton Drive, Lenton, were arrested in connection with the discovery.

They are due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday 21 September charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs including cocaine and heroin.

Koroma is also charged with driving without a licence and driving with no insurance.

Detective Superintendent Michael Allen, who leads Nottinghamshire Police’ Serious Organised Crime Unit, said: “Great police work by officers on patrol in the area led to the recovery of class A drugs.

“As a force, Nottinghamshire Police is committed to tackling drug crime and our officers work tirelessly to ensure that crime does not pay.

“We also work closely with our local communities to respond to any information they pass on to us and I would encourage anyone who sees something suspicious in their area to report it to police on 101 or in an emergency, dial 999.”

Both men have been remanded in custody pending their court appearance.

A 25-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs as part of the investigation. He has since been released under investigation.
