A motorist who was stopped by police in Shirebrook and found to be driving without a full licence has been ordered to pay £135.
Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on Monday, September 8, how Ricky Kemp, 25, of Devonshire Drive, Langwith, was driving along Valley Road and on to Recreation Road when he was stopped.
Prosecuting solicitor Becky Allsop said: “The defendant told the police officer who stopped him that he was only a provisional licence holder.”
Kemp pleaded guilty to driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence after the incident in April.
The defendant, who represented himself, told the court: “I can’t explain it really. It was just driving in the wrong way. There is nothing more I can say.”
Magistrates fined Kemp £80 and ordered him to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £35 costs.
Kemp’s driving licence was also endorsed with four points.
