Knife recovered after man suffers ‘slash injuries’ in Ashfield street fight

A 21-year-old man was arrested and a knife recovered following a street fight in Ashfield last night.

The incident happened around 9pm on Main Road, Jacksdale where it was reported a man suffered minor slash injuries to the back of his neck.

Officers were on the scene to conduct interviews from witnesses and located the man at a nearby address, arresting him on suspicion of GBH.

He remains in police custody and a flick knife was recovered.

Detective Sergeant Mark Shaw is leading the investigation. He said: “We made a quick arrest following the incident last night following a report coming into us.

“We continue to patrol the streets in the area and offer reassurance to the local community.

"This appears to be an isolated incident and we aren't looking for anyone else in connection with the incident."

The victim did not need hospital treatment, but was seen by paramedics at the scene.
