Knife carriers locked up as Nottinghamshire Police force sends message
These are the faces of just a few of the knife carriers who have been jailed this year after producing weapons on the streets of Nottinghamshire.
They were involved in a range of different incidents across the county – but all took the decision to carry a knife in public.
Our message to other people who take this conscious decision is clear – you will be identified and placed before the courts to face the consequences of your actions.
Chief Inspector Kylie Davies, the force’s lead on knife crime, said: “The decision to go out into the street carrying a knife puts both you and the other people you come into contact with at greater risk of harm.

“It’s a decision which also means you are very likely to end up in court.
“CCTV is extensive in Nottingham and if you produce a knife you will be captured on camera doing so.
“The county is very well policed, with a combination of high-visibility patrols and the work of our knife crime team meaning people carrying weapons will be spotted and arrested.”
The force is also working alongside surgeons in the East Midlands Major Trauma Centre, at the Queen’s Medical Centre, by sharing knowledge to find new ways of tackling knife crime.
Violent offender James Pedley was amongst those locked up after police found him hiding in a loft following a knife attack.
The victim suffered serious injuries after being stabbed repeatedly by Pedley when the pair agreed to meet in Morvern Avenue, Sutton-in-Ashfield.
Police were called to the scene around 1pm on 11 October 2025 and found the victim, a man aged in 40s, lying on the floor bleeding close to a set of garages.
He was taken to hospital and required emergency surgery.
An investigation was launched and a trawl of CCTV footage and other inquiries identified 41-year-old Pedley as a suspect.
Two days later officers tracked him down to an address in Dalestorth Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield.
Following a search of the address Pedley was found hiding under loft insulation.
Pedley, of Elder Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, was found guilty of committing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
At Nottingham Crown Court on 27 March he was jailed for a total of 14 years.
