Kirkby man's Rottweiler escaped garden and bit passing kids twice in three months
A Kirkby man's Rottweiler escaped from his garden and bit a passing school-boy months after biting a different child despite his attempts to keep it secure, a court has heard.
The boy was walking home from school along an alley when a small Rottweiler broke through the fence, barked once, and returned through the hole, at 3.45pm, on June 16, last year, said Sarah Angus, prosecuting.
A larger Rottweiler named Duke then broke through and bit the boy on his right forearm until a woman shouted and the dog returned to the garden.
The boy was left with two puncture wounds and a ripped school blazer.

The court heard four-year-old Duke escaped into the alley and bit another child on the hip on March 14, 2025.
Owner Shaun Edwards agreed to a voluntary dog control order and promised to keep the fence secure.
Ms Angus said Nottinghamshire police have charged Edwards £9,420 for kennelling costs.
Ian Pridham, mitigating, said Edwards, of previous good character, had every sympathy for the victim who suffered a “relatively minor bite.”
He said the fence had been damaged by children and Edwards repaired it regularly. He has now installed a strong barrier.
Edwards, aged 45, of Felley Avenue, Kirkby, admitted being in charge of a dog that was dangerously out of control causing injury when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court, on August 6 last year.
A contingent destruction order was made which means Duke must be neutered, and kept on a lead and with a muzzle when in public.
On Thursday he was fined £120 and ordered to pay £500 compensation to the victim.
