Kirkby man charged with murder and attempted murder following fatal collision has case sent to crown court

A Kirkby man charged with murder and attempted murder following a collision at the weekend has appeared before magistrates in Nottingham.

John Jefferies, 31, of Walesby Drive, Kirkby, appeared before Nottingham Magistrates Court today (Tuesday, August 11), where his case was sent to Nottingham Crown Court.

He will next appear before a judge on Thursday, August 13, at 10am at the crown court, where he may make a plea or the case will be committed for trial at a later date.

A 29-year-old man died following the crash in Southwell Lane, Kirkby, at around 7.45pm on Saturday, August 8.

Another man, who also suffered serious injuries in the collision, remains stable in hospital.

Jefferies, who police had previously stated lived at Southwell Close, Kirkby, was remanded in custody until his next appearance.
