Jail for Warsop thug who scarred ex-partner’s face and used a picture of the injury as Facebook profile picture

A Warsop thug who scarred his ex-partner by punching her in the face and used a picture of the injury on his Facebook profile has been locked up.

Ryan Revill turned up at the woman’s home and punched her inflicting a four-centimetre scar on her right cheek which needed butterfly stitches at hospital, said prosecutor Daniel Cowburn.

Revill, aged 30, obtained a copy of the injury photograph and later used it as his Facebook profile picture.

His victim was left feeling "scared” that he would return to assault her again and self-conscious about the scar which took four weeks to heal.

Revill also rang her 96 times using no-caller ID, between noon and the early hours on one day in March 2025, insisting she call him, the court heard.

When she answered one call he began shouting at her down the phone. He had also been contacting her via friends and family despite being subject to a restraining order.

As a result she had to change her behaviour, withdrew from social media, and constantly checked her home security.

Revill had been pestering his father for cash, which was repeatedly refused, before he picked up a coat from the floor and whipped it over his head towards his father. A metal sundry hit his dad on the head and caused a large gash.

Revill ran away from the address but returned a couple of days later.

In January this year he begged his father to let him come back and stay at his home after he had been forced to live in sheds.

He breached a restraining order, imposed to protect his parents, when he swiped car keys and “borrowed” his father’s car.

Nottingham Crown Court heard he has 24 previous convictions for 28 offences between 2010 and 2026.

Declan Smith, mitigating, said Revill had gone “down a chaotic path” but has been clean of drugs and working while on remand in prison.

“He began taking drugs and his behaviour became out of control,” he said. “He is genuinely remorseful. He doesn’t make any excuses for it.”

Revill, of Cherry Grove, Warsop, admitted breaching a restraining order, assault causing actual bodily harm, and harassment, at previous hearings.

On Tuesday Judge Godsmark KC sentenced him to 18 months in prison.
