The victims were out walking together around the Kimberley area on the night of March 26 when 27-year-old Sean Fay appeared out of a bush in front of them.

Fay, of Larkfield Road, Nuthall, held a knife in front of him and demanded that the women hand over their phones.

Police were alerted and an officer who was on patrol in the area arrested Fay at a property in Nuthall in connection with the robbery.

The property was searched and items stolen during the incident were recovered.

Fay was jailed for two years after pleading guilty to two counts of robbery and a further count of possessing a bladed article in a public place.

Detective Inspector Steve Wragg, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was an extremely frightening experience for Fay’s victims.

“I hope it brings them some comfort knowing that he is now off our streets and safely behind bars and I’d like to commend their bravery in coming forward.

“Nottinghamshire Police will not tolerate knife crime and I’d like to reassure the public that we will continue to do all we can to bring those who carry a knife to justice.”
