Jail for Ashfield man who strangled his mum and stole cash from her purse in Hucknall
An Ashfield man who strangled his mum when she asked him to leave and stole cash from her purse has been jailed, a court has heard.
Cameron Green let himself into his mum's home on Bentinck Road, Hucknall, on September 22 last year, said Georgina Miller, prosecuting.
"In order to prevent her from calling the police he put both his hands around her neck and dragged her to the floor," she said.
"She described how the pressure stopped her breathing and she felt as if she was going to lose consciousness."

Her ordeal lasted for about a minute and she was left with red marks on her throat.
When Green, 32, returned the next day and pocketed her purse, she challenged him. He gave her bank card back but kept £30 in cash and left.
Nottingham Crown Court heard he was sentenced to a 15-week prison sentence for the battery of a shopkeeper on Broomhill Road, earlier in September. A two-year restraining order was imposed and he was banned from entering the shop.
Despite this he turned up at Your Local Store and began talking to the owner's wife who couldn't understand a word he was saying because he was so drunk.
The shopkeeper spotted him outside the store and called the police. Green kicked his van as the owner drove away.
Steven Gosnell, mitigating, said Green has had a difficult time since he was a child and involved with social services.
“He began smoking cannabis as a way of getting through life and has tried to work where he can,” he said.
Green has taken maths courses and worked in a sewing workshop while he was in prison, Mr Gosnell added.
The court heard he has 36 previous convictions for 55 offences, including 14 for violence.
Green, formerly of Jubilee Road, Sutton, was convicted of intentional strangulation and theft after a trial, and admitted breaching a restraining order.
On Wednesday, Judge Penelope Stanistreet-Keen told him: "The reason the starting point for intentional strangulation is so high is because of the tiny margin between life and death."
She sentenced him to 77 weeks in prison, extended the restraining order protecting the shopkeeper for three years, and banned him from contacting his mother until further order.
