Homeless thief asked to be sent to prison

A homeless man asked to be sent back to prison after he admitted stealing a laptop from a school.

Sefton Mark Brown (34) was caught by police after he took the £300 computer from St Mary’s Magdalene School in Sutton on 28th April.

He said he took it from outside after spotting two pupils using it before they walked away.

Admitting the charge, magistrates were told how he had just been released on licence from a 42-month sentence for burglary, but had nowhere to live, and was stealing in order to survive.

He had been trailed by police who spotted him enter several other school premises before taking the laptop.

The magistrates ordered him back to jail for another 16 weeks.
