Heartbroken family release picture of murder victim after Alfreton assault

A man who died following an alleged assault in Alfreton has been named as Robert Chaplin

Police were called to reports of an assault at around 10.40pm on Thursday, 23 January near to Alfreton Park off Wingfield Road in Alfreton.

Mr Chaplin, 49 was found in a critical condition.

He was taken to hospital where he died on Friday, January 24.

An 18-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on police bail with conditions whilst enquiries continue.
