Four Mansfield men jailed after teenager kidnapped and assaulted for more than 10 hours

Four men who kidnapped a man in Mansfield, held him in a car and drove him to places during an ordeal lasting more than 10 hours have been locked up.

Owen Gamlin, 20, Steven Burgess, 24, Bradley Hodgkinson, 21 and 18-year-old Jamie Holloway were sentenced to a combined 17-and-a-half years behind bars at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday (February 7).

They were found guilty by a jury of kidnap last December last year after a seven-day trial.

Police say the men kidnapped the victim, 18, in Westfield Lane, Mansfield, at around 11.30pm on Tuesday, June 4, holding him inside a car and driving him to various places until 10am the following morning.

During his ordeal the victim was also threatened with weapons, including a knife, and was punched in the face by Gamlin.

After they drove to a Morrisons in Mansfield and walked into the store, the victim managed to escape the men, ran through the shop and reached a secure area where members of staff kept him safe and rang the police.

The four men were remanded in custody before they appeared for sentencing.

Gamlin, of Pembleton Drive, Mansfield, was sentenced to five years in prison.

Burgess, of Commercial Gate, Mansfield, was jailed for four-and-a-half years.

Hodgkinson, of Redgate Close, Mansfield, was locked up for four-and-a-half years.

Holloway, of no fixed address, was sentenced to serve three-and-a-half years in a young offenders’ institution.

Detective Sergeant Dave Prest, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "This must have been a terrifying ordeal for the victim who was held against his will, threatened with weapons, assaulted and driven around for more than 10 hours before he managed to escape.

"Thanks to the hard work and diligence of the officer in the case, Detective Constable Jenna Sorensen and detectives, we were able to identify and apprehend these four men and ensure they faced justice.

"We are glad that they will now serve substantial custodial sentences which reflect the seriousness of this crime."
