A court heard how Teven Gillon attacked his victim with a claw hammer and also threatened him with knives. He then ran the victim over in a car as he tried to escape.

As a result of the vicious attack the victim sustained a fractured knee and four deep wounds to his head which required over 20 stitches.

The attack happened in a field in Carlton-on-Trent on 24 June 2019.

A few months later the victim woke up to voicemails from Gillon threatening to do the same to him again, the court heard.

Gillon 36, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court today (Wednesday May 20) having been found guilty following a trial of wounding with intent and threats to kill.

He was handed a 10-year prison sentence for wounding with intent and a two-year sentence, to be served concurrently, for threats to kill.

In a statement, the victim said: “After the attack I became depressed and a tremendous sense of worthlessness and gave up on any aspirations I had.

“I became withdrawn and avoided meeting people or taking any kind of responsibility. In the end I had to seek medical help and ended up being prescribed medication to help with my feelings. I am still not the same person I was before the attack and I am also still suffering flashbacks and nightmares.

“I am so nervous now when I am out and I hear the sound of a revving car engine as it just takes me back and then it plays over in my mind what happened or what could have happened. I now don’t ever want to drive any kind of vehicle as a result.”

Detective Constable Matt Fagan, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a brutal attack which left the victim with serious injuries. It is extremely fortunate that Gillon did not cause him more serious harm that day.

“I hope that now Gillon is safely behind bars it will give him reassurance and go some way towards helping him to move her on with his life.”
