Fly-tipping warning

A 48-YEAR-OLD Mansfield Woodhouse man has been fined after he admitted failing to dispose of waste correctly.

Frank Wayne, of Outgang Lane, was fined £400 and ordered to pay costs of £307.43 along with a victim surcharge of £15 by Mansfield magistrates last Wednesday.

Household waste and parts of domestic appliances were found illegally dumped on Eakring Road, Forest Town, on 3rd May last year.

Wayne told council officers he had given the waste to ‘scrap men’ and did not expect them to fly-tip it.

But he admitted failing to carry out any checks to establish that they were authorised.

Council chiefs have repeated their calls for people to check they are handing over waste to authorised people.

Residents must check that any private individuals or firms collecting waste are authorised by the Environment Agency. See for details.
