Fine for Alfreton man who kicked in door panel

AN Alfreton man who kicked in a door panel at his pal’s home was “shopped” by a witness.

Ben Sitdown (21) committed the offence after drinking ten pints of beer during a night out.

Chesterfield magistrates were told that he bought a crate of lager and went to a friend’s rented property in Pye Bridge.

Becky Mahon, prosecuting, said he was unable to wake his frind by knocking on the door.

“A witness saw him kick the door and the bottom panel went through and he crawled through the opening,” said Ms Mahon.

Police were called and Sitdown and a friend were walking down the street towards them when officers arrived at the scene.

He was pointed out to police by a witness and arrested.

Sitdown, unemployed, of Birchwood Road, Alfreton, admitted causing damaging to a uPVC door owned by Jeremy Bradley.

He had no previous convictions and was fined £70, with £400 compensation and £85 costs.

The bench said he had shown remorse and recognised he had a problem after hearing he had been attending classes regarding his drinking.
