The men were taken to hospital but despite the efforts of medics they could not be revived and were pronounced dead a short time later.

South Yorkshire Police said family members were informed of the tragedy that night and are being supported by specially trained police officers.

Investigations are continuing to determine the exact circumstances of the incident, which has been described as ‘tragic’ by Detective Chief Inspector James Axe, who is leading the police probe.

Friends and family gathered last night to remember Josh and Tommy, with fireworks let off at Kiveton Recreation Ground in their memory.

Floral tributes have been left at the crash scene, where mourners have gathered to remember Josh and Tommy since news of their deaths broke.
