Eastwood care home burglar caught wearing stolen high-vis jacket
A burglar has been jailed after officers caught him wearing the same high‑visibility jacket he’d just stolen from an Eastwood care home.
Alan Brown, aged 51, was spotted on CCTV stealing multiple items from the property in Three Tuns Road during the course of September 10 last year.

Over the space of around five hours, Brown stole construction tools, a microwave and various other items – including the distinctive orange jacket he changed into before being arrested.
Brown, who has multiple previous convictions, admitted entering the property via Percy Street in a bid to steal piping and other scrap metal.
He was later caught inside the building by the site maintenance manager, who marched him outside and called the police.
Brown, of South Street, Eastwood, was arrested shortly after 10pm on the night and later pleaded guilty to burglary.
Appearing at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on January 22, he was jailed for nine months.
PC Paramjit Badwall, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Brown is well known to local officers but stood out immediately in this investigation for another reason – his unusual choice of clothing.
“For obvious reasons most burglars are a little more subtle in what they wear, and certainly don’t change into high‑vis materials midway through an offence.
“All in all, the evidence against him was overwhelming, leaving him with little choice but to plead guilty.”
