Drunk Mansfield man tried to blame his ex after he crashed his car following row with his sister

Police attended a collision on Commercial Gate, Mansfield, at around 4.45am on December 26 last year after Piotr Ciezck crashed his BMW into a wall and a tree, Nottingham Magistrates’ Court heard on Wednesday, February 17.
The 28-year-old, of Beech Avenue, Edwinstowe, Mansfield, had left the vehicle but was spotted returning to it following the collision, the court heard.

Hide AdHe said that his former partner had been driving and had left the scene of the collision, but police believed Ciezck to be the driver, and investigations later found his saliva in the driver’s side airbag, proving that he had been behind the wheel.
Speaking through a Polish interpreter, Ciezck admitted drink driving when he appeared before the court.
When tested, Ciezck blew 60mg of alcohol to 100ml of breath, when the legal limit is 35mg.
He has a previous conviction for drink driving dating back to 2017, and was banned for a total of 38 months by magistrates.

Hide AdMitigating, Frank Sheeran told the court: “The decision to drive wasn’t pre-planned. He’d had an argument with his sister and his partner was due to drive but he decided to leave early.
“The crash was very near to the address and he had only driven for a brief period and he understands that he should not have driven.”
Magistrates also fined him £120 and ordered him to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
