A drug-dealer has been jailed after running from police in Mansfeld

A man who fled from police was arrested and found carrying nearly 300 wraps of class A drugs and a weapon.

Nottingham Crown Court heard this month how Benjamin Wylie, 26, of Rodwell Close, Beechdale, Nottingham, was caught with 196 wraps of crack cocaine and 99 wraps of heroin in three packages worth around £3,000.

He had an extendable baton which he dropped while trying to run from officers in Welbeck Street, Mansfield, at 9.30am, on December 13.

Wylie pleaded guilty to two charges of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possessing an offensive weapon.

He was jailed for three years and four months on January 17.

Detective Sergeant Dean O’Sullivan, fo Nottinghamshire Police, said: "This is an excellent piece of proactive police work that removed a large quantity of class A drugs from the streets of Mansfield.”
