Drug dealer caught with crack cocaine and heroin in Mansfield given final chance

A drug dealer who was caught with crack cocaine and heroin in Mansfield has been spared an immediate prison sentence despite fears he may have reoffended.
Diaz Allen-Thompson was caught with the drugs and cash at an address on Cumberland Drive in Mansfield, on February 3, 2024, Nottingham Crown Court was told.
Judge Michael Auty KC deferred sentence until August 12 when Allen-Thompson appeared before him in January.
“I have some hesitation because I don’t know in truth whether you have committed a further offence,” the judge told him on Wednesday, August 12.
“But no charges have been preferred and there is no file with the Crown Prosecution Service,” he said.
“If after four months no one considers the matter is sufficiently serious you are entitled to the benefit of the doubt.
“You need to put this behind you and understand this is your final opportunity.”
Allen-Thompson, aged 21, now of The Crescent, Chaddesden, Derby, admitted two counts of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates Court on November 7 last year, and is entitled to full credit for his guilty pleas.
Judge Auty imposed a two-year prison term, suspended for two years, with 180 hours of unpaid work and up to 30 rehabilitation days.
In addition Allen-Thompson must also complete a 26-day building choices programmes and will be fitted with a GPS tag on a trail monitoring programme for six months to get him “back on the straight and narrow.”
“If you do commit a criminal offence back here you come,” Judge Auty told him. “This life is no life at all, I promise you.”
