Drink driver nearly FIVE times over the limit fitted with tag to stop him boozing
A drink driver from the Mansfield area who was nearly FIVE times over the limit has been fitted with a tag to stop him boozing, a court has heard.
Police were tipped off about a car that was being driven slowly and mounting the kerb on Leeming Lane at 4.10pm, on November 29 last year, magistrates in Mansfield were told.
A breath test revealed the driver, Daniel Lee, had 165 microgrammes of alcohol when the legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
The court heard he has two previous convictions, including one for drink-driving in 2016.

"This is patently at the top end of the scale and the starting point is 12 months in custody," said the prosecutor.
Neil Taylor, mitigating, said Lee was struggling with his mental health at the time and deserved credit for his guilty plea.
He has been working with a substance abuse agency and hasn't consumed any alcohol since, he added.
Lee, 40, of Mosscar Close, Spion Kop, admitted drink driving when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court, on December 16.
"It was a very, very high reading and it is your third offence of a similar nature and it does pass the custody threshold," the presiding magistrate told him on Thursday.
"However, we are prepared to suspend the sentence because there is a realistic prospect of your rehabilitation."
Lee received an eight week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, with ten rehabilitation days, and a 120-day alcohol abstinence and monitoring tag.
He was banned for 60 months, but the disqualification could be reduced by 25 per cent if he completes a rehabilitation course.
