Drink driver caught in Mansfield was “depressed” after split from partner

Kurijus Subatkevicius was seen driving a red BMW “at speed” on Sheepbridge Lane, before officers stopped him on Hamilton Way, at 12.20am, on June 18, said proseutor Sanjay Jerath.
A test revealed he had 58 mcgs of alcohol in 100 mls of breath, when the legal limit is 35 mcgs.

Hide AdSubatkevicius, who represented himself, said: "I plead guilty and apologise for my actions and I will never do this again."
He told the court he has an expired Lithuanian licence, with six penalty points on it that were added in the UK.
"I didn't claim any benefits," he said. "Sometimes friends helped me out and sometimes my mum.
"I have lived and worked here for five years."
He said he has been depressed since separating from his “missus” and was "depressed with a lot of problems."

Hide AdHe told magistrates that he is hoping to get a job at Sports Direct because he wouldn't need a car to get there and has worked there before.
Subatkevicius, 27, of Manvers Court, Shirebrook, admitted drink driving when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court, on Thursday.
He was banned from driving for 12 months, but was offered a drink drive rehabilitation course which will reduce the disqualification by three months if he completes it by February 2022.
He was fined £80 and was ordered to pay a surcharge of £34 and court costs of £85.
