Drink drive personal trainer caught FIVE times over the limit in Mansfield

A personal trainer who was caught in Mansfield nearly five times over the drink-drive limit has been ordered to tackle his alcoholism, magistrates have heard.

Joshua Simnett's red Audi A3 was pulled over on Sherwood Way East, at 4.20pm, on June 28, said prosecutor Yaysa Hue.

A test revealed he had 173 mcgs of alcohol when the legal limit is 35 mcgs.

Probation officer Cheryl Nisbet said he had drunk three quarters of a bottle of vodka - or 26 units of alcohol - every day for the last six-to-eight months.

Chris Perry, mitigating, said Simnett had joined AA, but didn’t get the full level of support he needed because meetings were conducted over Zoom.

Simnett, 30, of Kirklington Road, Bilsthorpe, received a 16-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, with a six-month alcohol treatment programme and ten rehabilitation days.

He was banned for 36 months but Mansfield magistrates offered him a rehabilitation course which will reduce the disqualification by a quarter.
