Dramatic footage released after police pursuit through streets of Nottinghamshire

The speed dial on the pursuing police car can be seen notching speeds of up to 90mph as it followed the suspect’s car – which was driving on the opposite side of the road and narrowly missing other vehicles as it weaved through traffic and street furniture in the early hours of this morning. Officers have been praised for their bravery following the pursuit which led to three arrests being made, two police vehicles being damaged and the suspect’s car colliding into a tree.

The incident began when force’s roads crime team saw a car driving erratically in Beeston at around 3.30am.

It failed to stop which led to a pursuit, going through the Stapleford, Chilwell and Beeston areas.

The car was brought to a stop at Queens Road East, Beeston, after officers used tactics to surround it.

A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, criminal damage and burglary.

A 28-year-old man and a 26-year old woman was arrested on suspicion of burglary and a theft of motor vehicle.

Detective Sergeant Lauren Morgan, of Nottinghamshire Police, led the investigation.

She said: “This was excellent work by all officers concerned.

“A car was seen to be driving erratically in the Beeston area, so a pursuit was authorised.

“Officers used Tactical Pursuit and Containment (TPAC) tactics to help stop the car safely.

“These tactics allow the runaway car to be brought to a controlled halt and ensure there is no immediate danger to the public.

“The car damaged two police vehicles, before colliding with a tree, but thankfully due to the time of the incident there was lighter traffic on the road and no injuries to anyone.

“The three people remain in police custody.”
