Double theft suspect cornered in Warsop

A MAN suspected of stealing cash from a man in the street in Warsop less than an hour after snatching a handbag in another town has been arrested following a police chase.

Nottinghamshire Police said the 27-year-old, from Creswell, was caught by a Police dog handler who tracked him down in Warsop last night.

The man is believed to have stolen a handbag in Market Street, in Shirebrook, Derbyshire, at about 6.40pm.

About 50 minutes later he is then thought to have pushed over a man outside the Lloyds TSB bank in Sherwood Street, Warsop, and fled with money from the cash machine.

The victim received minor injuries in the fall.

The man was also arrested in connection with resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.
