A DOE LEA driver reversed and fled after crashing into the back of a car waiting at traffic lights.
The victim was parked in a queue of traffic at roadworks in Mansfield Road, Bramley Vale, at 6pm on 11th May when the collision occurred.
“There was a loud bang and then a second bang at the rear of his car. He didn’t hear any skidding which made him think the other driver didn’t brake,” prosecutor Rosemary Lake told Chesterfield magistrates last Wednesday.
She added: “The victim said: ‘The other driver asked if I was okay and I said ‘no’. He asked me to move my car forward and I said ‘no’. He then reversed and sped off’.”
Anthony Morris (46), of West Street, Doe Lea, admitted charges of careless driving and failing to stop and report an accident.
Asked by magistrates for his comments on the offence, he replied: “The facts are in front of you. They are right.”
Morris was fined £115, with £85 costs, and eight penalty points were imposed on his driving licence.
