Disgust as vandals target iconic war memorial outside Nottinghamshire fire station

Police are appealing for information after vandals targeted a statue remembering those who lost their lives or fought in military service in Nottinghamshire.

The Tommy Silhouette was donated to Carlton Fire Station by Nottinghamshire County Council in 2018.

The station is shared by Nottinghamshire Police and Nottingham Fire and Rescue Service.

It is believed the statue was vandalised over the weekend of Friday, January 31 to Monday, February 3.

Detective Sergeant Mike Ebbins aid: “This is a disgusting and shocking case of criminal damage and we are exploring a number of lines of enquiry as part of our investigation.

“If you have any information that could help us find out who did this, please contact us via 101 and quote incident number 294.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The statue is considered by the crews as part of the station and they are hurt by the damage that was caused.”
