Court appearance for Sutton woman accused of spitting at police officer and homeless man accused of assaulting constable

A Sutton woman and a homeless man have appeared in court in connection with separate incidents where police officers were allegedly assaulted.

Dawn Smith, 41, of Barnes Crescent, Sutton, appeared before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday, January 11 and denied assaulting an emergency worker. She will be tried on January 24 and was released on unconditional bail.

The police officer was allegedly assaulted while attending a report of a disturbance at an address in Barker Avenue, Skegby, at around 10pm on Friday, January 8.

While dealing with the incident it's alleged a woman coughed in her face and said 'covid' before she was arrested.

Sutton man due in court after 17-year-old boy ‘stabbed in stomach’

Craig Fallon, 36, of no fixed address, also appeared before the court charged with assault and shop theft after allegedly assaulting a police officer while trying to steal a mobility scooter. He will next appear before the court on February 1.

Speaking before the court appearances, Assistant Chief Constable Gerard Milano said he was “angered and frustrated” by the alleged assaults.
