A Sutton woman and a homeless man have appeared in court in connection with separate incidents where police officers were allegedly assaulted.

Dawn Smith, 41, of Barnes Crescent, Sutton, appeared before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday, January 11 and denied assaulting an emergency worker. She will be tried on January 24 and was released on unconditional bail.

The police officer was allegedly assaulted while attending a report of a disturbance at an address in Barker Avenue, Skegby, at around 10pm on Friday, January 8.

While dealing with the incident it's alleged a woman coughed in her face and said 'covid' before she was arrested.
