Dog owners in Newark and Sherwood are being warned to face a fine of up to £1,000 if they
fail to clean up after their pets.

A warning has been sent out following reports from the public in areas such as land close to the Sherwood Energy Village in Ollerton including Edison Rise, and the Newark Road area by Ollerton Pit Woods.

Council environmental health officer Jeremy Hutchinson said: “There’s a fixed penalty for dog fouling of £75 and we do impose on-the-spot fines when dog owners are seen allowing dogs to foul streets, playing fields or any open-air area, but failing to remove and dispose of the mess.”

Any witnesses who want to report a dog owner should call 01636 650000 or email
