Clued-up burglars were able to ransack an alarmed house by breaking through bedroom walls to avoid detectors.

The thieves got away with nearly £12,000 worth of watches and other items from the property on Borrowdale Close, off Litchfield Lane in the Berry Hill area of the town.

Using a set of ladders, they broke into the house through an upstairs bedroom window.

Police suspect the burglars were aware of the alarm system in the house and avoided triggering
the hallway sensors by knocking through dry plaster walls.

They got away with a gents and ladies gold Rolex Oyster watches, worth £4,000 each, a gents gold/silver Omega watch valued at £1,000, a ladies Rolex Cellini watch with blue leather strap and a man’s Osiris watch with gold face and brown leather strap, value £700.

The burglars also took off with commemorative Chinese ‘Year of the Pig’ and ‘Year of the Ox’ coins worth £700 each, and £600 in cash.

The incident happened between 5pm and 11.30pm on 16th January.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
