An irresponsible Bullwell dog owner has been fined £400 for failing to pick up his pet’s mess.

John Draycott 44 was spotted by a community protection officer after he failed to remove dog faeces on a footpath along the River Leen in Bulwell, last September.

Nottingham magistrates heard Draycott was stopped by the officer and became aggressive.

Draycott, of Quarry Avenue, failed to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 3rd February and the case was proved in his absence.

He was fined £400, ordered to pay costs of £226 and has to pay a £40 victim surcharge.

Coun Nicola Heaton, portfolio holder for community services at Nottingham City Council, said: “The problem of dog fouling is a priority with many residents across Nottingham and we are determined to tackle the problem to make Nottingham a cleaner city.”
