BREAKING: Ashfield man convicted of murder after using his car as a weapon

A former Kirkby man has been found guilty of murder and attempted murder after he ran over two other men in his Range Rover.

A jury took more than eight hours to reach a majority verdict in the case of John Jefferies, 31, formerly of Walesby Drive, who was accused of murdering Samuel Donner, 29, on Southwell Lane, Kirkby, on Saturday, August 8 last year.

Mr Donner died at the scene after suffering a fractured skull and bleeding to his brain, as well as damage to his spinal column.

A second man, Conna Ross, survived but suffered an open fracture to his lower leg and a laceration to the scalp.

Jefferies denied the murder of Mr Donner and charges of attempted murder and causing grevious bodily harm with intent against Mr Ross.

But he had admitted charges of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving.
