Boy charged after man ‘stabbed in back’ in Mansfield

A teenager has been charged after an alleged stabbing in Mansfield.

Officers were called to an incident in Stockwell Gate shortly after 6.30pm on Wednesday.

It was reported that a man had been stabbed in the back.

He was taken to hospital with injuries which were not believed to be life-threatening and he was subsequently discharged.

A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on Thursday.

He has now been charged with wounding with intent and threatening a person with a bladed article in a public place.

He was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.

Detective Sergeant Matt Scott, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Nottinghamshire Police treats knife crime extremely seriously, whether it takes place in public or a domestic setting, and we are absolutely committed to driving down knife crime and serious violence wherever it presents.”
