Boughton woman kicked cop in the groin and shouted "I hope that hurt"

A Boughton woman who kicked a policeman in the groin and shouted "I hope that hurt" as she was arrested, told magistrates she felt threatened by the officers, a court has heard.

Officers smelled alcohol when they approached Chelsea Beedham as she sat in her Mercedes, when it was parked on Collis Close, Newark, on June 16, said prosecutor Sanjay Jerath.

She tested positive for alcohol and was taken to the police station, but she began kicking out and the vehicle had to be stopped.

Probation officer Malcolm Leech said: "She accepts she made a bad situation worse.

"She tells me she felt quite threatened by the three male police officers trying to force her into an awkward situation.

"She drove the vehicle in the belief she was under the limit. There is nothing to suggest she would benefit from rehabilitation activity intervention."

He said the shift supervisor at a factory in Newark, who is two-months pregnant, says she will move closer to work if she is banned.

Abbie Edwards, mitigating, said Beedham, of previous good character, was "extremely honest with police" and the offence was "totally out of character."

"Fortunately there were no injuries. She is extremely remorseful and embarrassed,” she said.

"I would invite you to consider dealing with her by way of a short disqualification."

Beedham, 20, of Harrow Lane, Boughton, admitted being in charge of a vehicle whilst unfit through drink and assaulting an emergency worker, when she appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court, on Thursday.

Her licence was endorsed with ten penalty points and she was fined £666, with £100 compensation, a £67 surcharge and £85 costs.
