Justina Jatkowska approached her neighbour in his back garden and said: "You are gay and your wife is a whore. You're Russians. You came here and caused trouble."

Afterwards her victim went into his home on Broomhill Lane, at 9am, on November 15, last year, said prosecutor Jenna Minton.

When police came round to arrest her partner for a seperate matter the next day, she became obstructive and tried to pull him away from the officers.

She was warned several times before she ran into the street, "causing issues for other road users”, and was arrested.

As she was escorted into Mansfield Police Station she kicked an officer in the shin.

When she was interviewed, she apologised, admitted having an alcohol problem and said she couldn't remember what happened because she was so drunk.

Treve Lander, mitigating, said Jatkowska, aged 45, has been in the UK for 15 years and supported East Europeans in her job.

He said there had been no problems in the three years those neighbours lived next door, and "she would say she helped and supported them”.

But trouble started over a dispute about the back gate being locked when the dustbins had to be taken out.

"She is suffering with difficulties with alcohol," Mr Lander said. "This is very much out of character. It goes completely against what she has been doing over the last 15 years.

"Her partner was arrested for a separate matter. She fully accepts that what she did was wrong. She has no relevant previous convictions.

"She is very unlikely to come before the courts for this sort of thing again. The nextdoor neighbours have moved."

Jatkowska, of Broomhill Lane, Mansfield, admitted racially aggravated harassment, resisting arrest and assaulting an emergency worker, when she appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court, on Thursday.

She received a 12-month community order with five rehabilitation days. She was fined £240, and was ordered to pay £50 compensation to the officer, £100 to her former neighbour, with a £95 surcharge and £85 court costs. A restraining order was imposed.
