A Bilsthorpe man stalked a woman for almost two-and-a-half years, sending her letters and cards, buying her gifts and turning up at her address.

Records from Nottingham Magistrates’ Court show Daniel White, aged 32, of Mickledale Lane, Bilsthorpe, committed the offences between August 2017 and December 22, 2019.

He admitted the offences when he appeared before the Nottingham court on June 18, records show – stating that he “pursued a course of conduct that amounted to stalking” in that he “sent her unwanted cards, letters and gifts and visited her address repeatedly”.

The records state that White’s “prolonged stalking caused significant distress to the injured party”.

Magistrates jailed White for eight weeks, but suspended the sentence for 18 months.

They also issued a restraining order for an indefinite period, preventing him from contacting his victim in any way, or visiting her home.

He was also ordered to pay £80 compensation, £85 costs and a £122 victim surcharge.
