A driver ran back up an M1 exit slip road after forgetting to sort his phone top-up on a visit to Tibshelf services, police say.

Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit officers said drivers like this pose a ‘greater risk’ than Smart Motorways.

A spokesperson for the unit said: “Audi driver leaving the services forgot to buy a phone top up, so parks on the exit slip road and runs back to the shop. No insurance. Whilst there may be concerns about #SmartMotorway drivers like these are the greater risk.”
