Ashfield woman caught behind wheel almost three-and-a-half times over drink drive limit

An Ashfield woman has been given a suspended prison sentence after she was caught behind the wheel of her car almost three-and-a-half times over the drink drive limit, court records show.

Claire Hardy was stopped by police in Huthwaite Road on July 15 where she blew 122mg of alcohol to 100ml of breath, when the legal limit is 35mg - meaning she was almost three-and-a-half times over the legal limit.

The 40-year-old, of Abingdon Avenue, Sutton, admitted drink driving when she appeared before Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, November 11.

She was given an eight-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months and must also pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £128 victim surcharge.

She was also banned from driving by a total of 30 months. However, the disqualification will be reduced by a total of 227 days if she completes a recognised drink driver awareness course by July 23, 2022.

Her guilty plea was taken into consideration when magistrates passed sentence, court records show.
