An investigation has been launched after a supermarket bin compound was torched by arsonists in Mansfield.
Fire crews from Ashfield were called to the Oaktree Tesco this morning, Wednesday July 29, where they used four breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to extinguish the flames on the recycling bins.
The police were also there to assist.
Station manager Matt Reavill, head of the NOttinghamshire Fire Service’s community safety north team, said: “Our risk reduction officers will be working closely with the police this morning to try and find out who has done this and together with the police we have a very high success rate when it comes to finding the people responsible.
“What the people involved need to realise is that incidents such as this tie up our resources – meaning we may not be able to get to a more serious, potentially life-threatening incident as fast. This leaves members of the community vulnerable.”
