Arrests made after man shot by air rifle and hit with metal chain in Warsop
Detectives have arrested two men after a man was shot by an air rifle and hit with a metal chain at Warsop.
Officers say the man was treated for minor injuries after it was alleged that he had been hit by a number of pellets fired at him from the weapon.
He was also believed to have been struck by a metal chain during the same incident, which happened on Cottage Lane, at around 11.30am on Sunday, March 28.
An investigation was launched and at around 10am yesterday morning (March 29), a car believed to be linked to a suspect was spotted by eagle-eyed officers in north Nottinghamshire.
A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and a man, 31, was also arrested and questioned in connection with the offence.
An air rifle was recovered from the car.
Det Insp Stuart Temple, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Firearms offences are incredibly dangerous and serious.
“Nottinghamshire Police will always thoroughly investigate such a offences with a view to taking appropriate action against offenders.
“Thankfully, the victim in this incident only suffered minor injuries, however, with any assault, there is always the potential for more serious consequences.
Both the men have since been released on bail pending further enquiries by the police.
Det Temple added “I would now appeal to anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area at the time to report it to Nottinghamshire Police on the 101 number and quoting the incident number 228 of 28 March 2021.”
