Arrest made after two emergency workers allegedly assaulted in Sutton's Asda

A 29-year-old man was arrested in Sutton last night (April 16), after two emergency workers were allegedly assaulted.

Officers were called to Asda in Priestic Road at around 9pm to reports of a man acting in a threatening manner.

When two Nottinghamshire Police PCSOs arrived at the scene, a man is reported to have aggressively confronted them and assistance was requested.

A taser was discharged and the man was safely detained and arrested on suspicion of affray and assault on emergency workers.

Detective Superintendent Kevin Broadhead, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our officers are committed to protecting the public and put themselves at risk in order to do so.

“We will not tolerate any acts of aggression towards our officers and swift action will be taken against those who feel it is appropriate to threaten or assault staff.

“I am pleased that the matter was brought to a safe conclusion without any injuries.”
