The 30-year-old was arrested after a two-vehicle smash close to Junction 27 for Mansfield.

Nottinghamshire Police said a car and lorry were involved in the collision, which reportedly occurred after a passenger in the car grabbed the steering wheel, which caused the vehicle to swerve and crash into the lorry.

It is reported that the passenger then ran across the carriage after the incident and had to be restrained.

Inspector Mark Dickson said: “We all have a responsibility to be courteous on the roads and violence of any kind is completely unacceptable.

“We will not tolerate anyone putting other road users at risk or any kind of intimidating behaviour.”

The man arrested was held on suspicion of dangerous driving, causing a danger to road users and driving whilst under the influence of alcohol.

He has since been bailed with conditions.
