Arrest after woman threatened by armed man on Blidworth country lane

Armed police were called to Rickets Lane, Blidworth, shortly before 6.40pm yesterday (Wednesday, August 12) after a car was stopped by a man standing in the middle of the road.
The man is then said to have pointed a weapon – believed to be an air rifle – at the car as it was driven away from the scene.

Hide AdA 61-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He remains in police custody.
Detective Sergeant Jamie Moore said: “This was a distressing and frightening incident for the lady involved and I am pleased it was resolved without anyone getting hurt.
“Brandishing any kind of firearm in a public place is an incredibly serious offence and will always be met with an armed response.
“I realise that incidents like this can cause a great deal of alarm in the community but this was an isolated incident that was swiftly resolved.”

Hide AdOfficers would like to speak to anyone else who witnessed the incident, particularly two men who witnessed the arrest.
