Owen Nicholas Allsop had been in the queue outside Rush Bar, in Clumber Street, when the incident happened on September 15, Mansfield Magistrates’ Court heard on Friday, January 17.

Prosecuting, Marianne Connally said that when Allsop, 21, of The Dell, Annesley Woodhouse, got to the front of the line and was asked for identification, he reached into his pocket to pull out his documents and the plastic bag of cocaine fell ono the floor in front of door staff.

They then detained Allsop and contacted the police.

The court heard that it was a relatively small quantity of cocaine and was for personal use.

The court heard that Allsop had been out celebrating a friend’s birthday and the cocaine had fallen to the ground when he reached into his pocket to pull out his ID.

He worked as an assistant to a tree surgeon but was currently out of work due to a quiet period following the Christmas celebrations.
