Thieves stole scaffolding worth more than £4,400 – leading to the termination of an £8,000 job.

Roy Widdowson and three colleagues, of Bolsover-based Tri-otas Construction Services, had securely left the scaffolding at a house on Chesterfield Road, Shuttlewood, on Saturday, July 25.

When Roy and his workmates attended the property the following Monday, the scaffolding had gone.

Roy said: “The scaffolding was stacked at the back of the building.

“There was a six-foot-high gate which was a good barrier – nobody could see around the back of the building from the roadside.

“The gate was bolted from the inside and then secured with two large screws which were driven in by an industrial impact driver.

“I was very diligent in keeping my scaffolding safe.

“At 8.30am on Monday, July 27, I and two colleagues arrived at the site and all my scaffolding was gone.

“I just can’t believe it.

“We’ve not only lost the scaffolding, it’s cost us an £8,000 job.”

The stolen scaffolding was worth a minimum of £4,420, Roy said.

A £500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible for stealing the scaffolding is being offered.
